Plane
There are daily direct flights connecting Rotorua with Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown (via Christchurch). Baybus transports visitors from Rotorua Airport to central Rotorua for $2.80 one way. Taxi fare from the airport to the Millennium Hotel is approximately $30-35.
Bus
InterCity (https://www.intercity.co.nz/) has daily services connecting Rotorua with Auckland, Wellington and other North Island centres, including Tauranga, Hamilton, Taupo, Whakatane, Gisborne, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Napier, Hastings and Wanganui.
Drive
Rotorua is a leisurely 3 hour drive from Auckland, the closest international airport.
